Portuguese Camino – Viana do Costelo to Santiago

The Camino Francés, or French Way, is the most historic and well-traveled route of the Camino de Santiago.

10 Nights/11 Days

all of our guided tours include the following:

  • We are happy to help with your travel arrangements prior to and after the tour including airline tickets, suggestions for how to get to the starting point and additional suggestions for exploring the arrival and nearby cities such as Madrid or Finisterre.

  • Your journey is led by 1-2 experienced Camino guides — a blend of local Spanish expertise and U.S.-based hikers who have walked and deeply understand the route. We have walked and been transformed by the Camino and want to share our passion with you. We’re here to support you every step of the way while sharing the culture, stories, and spirit of the trail.

  • Stay in carefully selected 3–4 star hotels and restored manor homes (aka Pazos whenever possible) known for comfort, charm, and exceptional hospitality — places that allow you to truly rest and recharge each evening.

  • Each day begins with breakfast at or near your hotel, setting you up for the walk ahead. We gather for a special welcome dinner in Sarria to meet, connect, and set intentions for the week, and celebrate your accomplishment with a memorable farewell dinner in Santiago (Michelin star). Along the route, you’re free to explore local cafés and restaurants at your own pace — experiencing the Camino like a pilgrim (we will make daily suggestions) and will also invite everyone to gather for dinner if you are interested.

  • Walk independently or alongside fellow travelers and guides. We provide the structure, support, and logistics — you choose how you want to experience each day. If for any reason you need to shorten a leg of journey we will happily pick you up and transfer you to the next hotel/stop.

  • With daily luggage transfers and a dedicated support van, you carry only a light day pack. If you need assistance at any point, we are never far away.

  • Our itinerary meets the official requirements for receiving your Compostela certificate upon arrival in Santiago — a meaningful recognition of your pilgrimage. We provide you the passport at the beginning of the journey and help you obtain the Pilgrim Certificate on arrival to Santiago. On our last day we provide a guided tour of the cathedral and end with the opportunity to attend Pilgrim’s Mass.
